Learn about the causes, symptoms, prevention and treatment for constipation in kids with Dr. Monica Schwarz Josten.
Constipation is often a cause for concern for parents of young children. In fact, it is estimated that about 5 percent of pediatrician visits and at least 25 percent of visits to pediatric gastroenterologists are due to the issues related to constipation. Though constipation is common, it doesn't make it easy for parents to watch their child deal with painful bowel movements.
Fortunately, most children with constipation do not have an underlying medical problem and constipation generally resolves with changes in diet or behavior or sometimes with medicine.
In this course, a Stanford trained pediatrician Dr. Monica Schwarz Josten discusses symptoms, causes, treatment options for constipation in children and offers tips on how to help your child develop good bowel habits.
