Activity Time is a community of parents helping each other make time to engage fully with their children.
The concept behind Activity Time is simple - you set aside an hour every week, any time that suits you best, to do a fun, offline activity with your kids.
As smartphones and tablets blur the boundaries between work, home and social lives, a significant (and growing) proportion of parents are struggling to be physically, mentally, and emotionally present with their kids. This matters.
Children can’t build strong brains by themselves. They need loving, responsive, and attentive adults around them to learn and thrive.
But parenting is hard and life is busy! You feel like you're being pulled in a million different directions and your to-do list is never ending. But you don't need to spend endless hours with kids to have a positive impact. Research shows that it isn’t how many hours you spend with your child but how you choose to spend that time truly matters.
We want you to make a small, practical contribution by blocking one hour (whenever it suits you) every week where you put screens down and do a real world activity with your children.
Joining the Activity Time community gets you the access to the Activity Time Directory (coming soon) and to the Activity Time app (coming soon), which gives you inspiration and instructions every week for a fun, engaging activity that's designed to be relevant to your children's interests and stage.
If you like the idea of being part of a community, of sharing ideas and inspiration, and joining in a collective activity each week, then the first steps are to:
Activity Time is just getting started. Everything, from this website and manifesto through to the tools we are building and support we aim to provide are still being conceived, designed and developed.
If you're interested in helping shape Activity Time and you're happy to both experiment with activities and provide feedback to us on how to make them better, we'd love for you to join now as a founding member.
